Established in 1955, with an initial area of approx 625 sq. kms., Tadoba is Maharashtra's oldest & largest national park, covering approx 1700 sq. kms. The reserve gets its name from the local deity "Taru" or "Tadoba" and the Andhari river which flows through the forest.
With a tiger count of 115+ tigers & a high tiger density, tiger sighting chances are always very high on a safari here.
Don't miss the enchanting landscape & fauna which is in plenty here. The lakes of Tadoba and Teliya also have a healthy population of Muggar crocodile.
🧭 Chandrapur is located 30 kms from Tadoba and has good rail connectivity.
🧭 Nagpur, located 130 kms away, has very good connectivity via air, rail and road.
The reserve combines 3 forest ranges of Tadoba (north), Moharli (central) & Kolsa (south). There are core & buffer zones on all sides, many of which have good tiger sightings.
Important For Planning ::
🔹 Most of the core zone can be accessed through any core zone gate except for Kolsa range. Each core zone / range has multiple buffer zones.
🔹 Safari gates are located on all sides on Tadoba. Driving between zones at opposite ends of Tadoba can take upto 90 mins.
🔹 When planning for Tadoba, your stay should be at a location near the core and buffer zones chosen.
🧭 Irai dam backwaters in the Moharli range offers boating options.
🧭 Forest dept arranges Log Hut stays & Cycle tours. These should be booked well in advance and are usually not available on the spot.
🧭 Butterfly World garden at Agarzari, spread over 5 acres, is a butterfly breeding spot.
