Olive Ridley Turtles At Velas / Guhagar

This protected turtle species nest en masse at beaches of Velas and Guhagar with nests hatching from Jan - April. Protected by local volunteers and govt authorities, the hatchlings are released into the sea with travelers permitted to watch the baby turtles taking their first steps and wading into the sea.

Crocodile Safari At Maldoli / Parchuri

The marsh crocodile or mugger have a healthy breeding population in Vashishti river, which flows through Ratnagiri. At Maldoli & Parchuri, you can take a boat safari ride to watch these beasts sunning along the river banks.

Dolphin Safari

Swarms of dolphins can be spotted frolicking in the shallow waters at several locations along the coast, which is home to at least 4 species - Humpback, Spinner, Striped and Spotted Dolphins. Dolphin safaris by boat are conducted at destinations like Guhagar, Tarkarli, Ganpatipule and Dapoli. While this activity happens year round, winter months are best suited for sighting as dolphins stay for longer in shallow waters during these months.

Scuba Diving At Tarkarli / Malvan

Tarkarli is a popular destination for scuba diving due to its coral beach, marine life and good underwater visibility.

Prehistoric Petrogylphs & Geoglyphs

Ancient rock art carved into the ground, known as petroglyphs or geoglyphs, are dotted across the Konkan belt, with some upto 12000 years old. The plateaus of Barsu and Kudopi have the largest collections of this heritage. This activity is not on any tourist map and tourism facilities dont exist here.
