Pench Tiger Reserve

Located 90 kms north of Nagpur, in the southern end of Satpura range, Pench was listed as a tiger reserve in 1992. The setting for Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, the park is home to more than 80 tigers apart from 39 mammal species, 13 reptile species, 3 amphibian species and more than 200 bird species including migratory birds.

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve

Located 130 kms from Nagpur, created in 1955, this is Maharashtra's oldest & largest national park. The reserve gets its name from the local deity "Taru" or "Tadoba" and the Andhari river which flows through the forest. Covering an area of 625 sq. kms., the reserve is home to approx 90 tigers apart from other mammal, reptiles and 200 bird species. The forest is divided in 3 ranges (Tadoba, Moharli & Kolsa). The Tadoba lake has a thriving population of Muggar crocodile.

Bandhavgarh National Park

Located 170 kms from Jabalpur, spread over more than 700 sq kms of undulating forests, steep ravines and meadows, Bandhavgarh is rich in wildlife history and the royal bengal tiger. The reserve gets its name from a prominent hill which was said to be gifted by Lord Rama to his brother Laxman to keep a watch on Lanka (Bandhav + Garh). The park was given by the Maharaja of Rewa to create the national park. There have been white tigers in the park previously, the last known called Mohan, and its believed that all white tigers globally trace their roots to Bandhavgarh. Major mammals found in the jungle include tiger, leopard, wild dog, hyena, wolf, jungle cat, jackal, chital, sambar and black buck. Recently, a herd of wild elephants has been often spotted near the Tala and Magadhi zones. The idol of Sheshshaiya (Sleeping Vishnu) rests atop Kila Bandhogarh in the Tala zone.

Kanha National Park

Spread over an area of over 900 sq. kms and across 2 districts, Kanha is the largest national park of Madhya Pradesh, located 175 kms from Jabalpur. From dry deciduous forests in highlands to swampy lowlands, the park has a diverse and captivating landscape. Apart from the main mammals of central Indian wilderness, Kanha is also home to Barasingha. 

Popular Safari Gates : Kanha, Kisli, Mukki, Sarhi. Kanha zone can also be accessed from Mukki gate while Kisli zone can be accessed from Sarhi gate. Khapa (Mukki), Khatia, Phen (Mukki) and Sijora (Sarhi) are the buffer zones.

Panna National Park

Spread over 540 sq. kms in Chhatarpur and Panna districts of north MP, once considered among the best managed parks, Panna lost all its tigers by 2009. The subsequent relocation and breeding efforts were successful and this national park is home to almost 50 tigers today. Located at the end of Vindhya hill range after which, the gangetic plains begin, this dry deciduous forest has vast plateaus and gorges dotted by enchanting waterfalls. The river Ken, which flows through the park has a healthy population of ghariyal crocodile.

Popular Safari Gates : Madla and Hinouta are the core zones while buffer zones are at Jinna and Akola.

Yadnyadatta Walimbe

A hotelier by profession, Yadnya had his first tryst with wildlife on jungle walks during childhood in Tadoba, a jungle still unknown back then. During a 4 year career stint in Pench, daily wildlife encounters gave him a deep knowledge of the silent language of nature. While his forte remains tracking predators in Pench & Tadoba, Yadnya gets his thrills from snake wrangling.

Zainab Poonawala

A corporate trainer by profession, Zainab fell in love with wildlife through frequent trips since her youth. Known by the team as 'Queen Of Forests' for regularly witnessing unique wildlife encounters, she is the lead naturalist for our Ladies Special safari groups. Zainab's favorite forests are Tadoba & Bandhavgarh and she already has retirement plans to live in a wildlife sanctuary.

Ketan Datar

A photographer by profession, Ketan is fondly called "Tiger Magnet" by the team for his frequent encounters with the magnificent beasts. A keen observation of Indian jungles since childhood and sound understanding of animal behavior led him to be a naturalist. Ketan's favorite jungles are Bandhavgarh & Kanha and he loves staying in forest machans.
